Certificate Courses

This course will expose the students to management practices in fish hatchery establishment and breeding of the commonly farmed fish in the region

By the end of the course, the students should:

1.    Be able to select the appropriate brood stock

2.    Be in position to carry out fish induced spawning

3.    Be able to care for the newly hatched fish in terms of nutrition and water quality

4.    Be able to care for the fry and fingerlings in terms of, nutrition, water quality, health status, grading and transportation

Appreciate the business opportunities in fry / fingerling production

This course will equip the participants with knowledge and skills in earthen pond-based tilapia production.

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

1.      Prepare existing ponds and stock appropriately  

2.      Raise fish for sale

3.      Offer technical and entrepreneurial advice to other farmers
